MPEJ hold minister, authorities guilty of lives lost in accidents | | | Early Time Report
Jammu, Oct 23: While reacting to the spate of road accidents in entire Jammu region-be it Chenab valley, Pir Panjal region or Reasi or Kathua Districts Kuldeep Kumar Rao & Ram Singh Chouhan active members of Movement for Peace, Equality & Justice in a joint press release issued here have wondered as to how, heavy toll of lives lost in the road accidents have failed to wake up the concerned Department particularly the concerned Minister from deep slumber over the years and miserably failed to formulate concrete policy aimed to the safety of the commuters. Is it that the concerned traffic authorities have no value for the lives lost or that they take the things as a matter of routine happening, they alleged How is it that a 42 seater bus dumps around 70 passengers just to end up in tragic accidents. What a huge deployment of blues is doing on the roads, they also questioned. Passengers often see them negotiating with transport operators at different points on the road and simply share with themselves the unholy nexus between them desperately. The government in general and transport Minister in particular owes an explanation to the public at large as to who is responsible for the loss of lives in road accidents, release said and expressed great astonishment that the public has never come to know about punishment handed to any traffic constabulary ever since inception of traffic department. The duo activists have urged upon the concerned to wake up from the deep slumber and come up with a concrete policy to save the hapless commuters from the death penalty for a sin which they have never committed. There must be a provision of stern action against those who watch the things happening, failing which the day will not be far when aggrieved people shall be constrained to take law into their own hands. |
