EJAC contemplating agitation to revoke suspension of terminated Govt employees | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 23: At a time when the state is running through a prolonged turmoil, several government employees who are paid from the state exchequer have been indulging in anti government, anti people and anti national activities, besides appeasing Pro- Pak Geelani, who is responsible for putting valley in flames for over three months. Early Times has learnt from the credible sources that the employees in restive Kashmir valley are all set to launch a fresh agitation against the government over the termination of few officials who were involved in protests and also against the suspension of their president Abdul Qayoom Wani recently. There are also reports suggesting that the Kashmir based employees have resolved to seek reinstatement of the sacked officials. "We will be launching a valley wide agitation for those employees who have been sacked by the government recently. We want their orders to be quashed so that they could rejoin their duties. Also, we want suspension of Qayoom Wani to be revoked at an earliest," said an EJAC member while pleading for anonymity. Meanwhile, the employees who have threatened the agitation against the government haven't muttered a word over the charges that are registered against those officials who have been sacked. Ironically, there is stoic silence being maintained within the amalgam over such a subtle issue. Rules formulated by the government clearly mention that an employee of the state government can not instigate/ take part in violence of any form. In the case of the sacked employees, there were clear charges of them being in a forefront in instigating protests or actively taking part in them. Pertinently, government has terminated the services of twelve government employees, for their alleged involvement in taking part in anti-government protests. Six leaders of Employees Joint Action Committee including the president of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), who were detained here on Saturday after police foiled their meeting, were shifted to Kupwara and Baramulla sub-jails. On October 22, the Jammu and Kashmir government suspended President Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Abdul Qayoom Wani. Furthermore, a local news agency has stated that a 'secret' meeting of leaders of various employee associations took place at secret place in Srinagar on Sunday over the issue of sacking of employees. The meeting according to the news agency was attended by the leaders of all three factions of EJAC. |
