GDC Udhampur organizes lecture on "silkworm diseases" | | | Early imes Report
Jammu, oct 28: Sericulture Department of Govt. Degree College, Udhampur organized a guest lecture on "Comparative analysis of silkworm diseases and their management with reference to J&K". The programme was organized, as a part of awareness program under Star College Scheme, DBT, GOI for the students. Today the lecture was delivered by Dr. M K Tayal, Scientist 'C' CSB, RSRS Miran Sahib. Dr Tayal in his address emphasis upon the prevention and control measures of silkworm diseases at every stage of silkworm rearing as average economic loss due to diseases is about 25-30% during spring and 35-40% during autumn rearing in J&K State. He said Grasserie and Flacherie are the common diseases in State sericulture and these pathogen have the capacity to survive for over 15 years under natural conditions. Dr Bandana Mazal, Dr. Mokshe of sericulture Department of the college were present during the lecture. About sixty number of sericulture students of Sem-I and III attended the lecture. Earlier Prof. G. G. Verma, HoD Sericulture welcome the resource person and highlighted the various initiative taken by the college under Star College Scheme. Formal vote of thanks was accorded by Dr. Udhey Banu, HoD Mathematics. |
