Geelani's grand daughter appears in exam | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 28: A national newspaper story on separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani titled, 'Geelani has bandh calander for every school except that of his child' became a talk of the town on Friday. Most of the people who have access to social networking sites shared the story with netizens venting their anger against separatists. The separatists are facing a public ire on the social media for advocating closure of schools while his grand daughter had appeared in exams. "SAS keeps educating your grand children while poor children are meant for dying," Bilal Ahmad posted on his Facebook. His post drew scores of comments. "They (separatists) exploit education but their children are studying in good schools in India and abroad," another Facebook user Humaira said. Ashik Ahmad who too shared the story said separatists's double standards are getting exposed. "Actually the schools are open for their children but remain closed for rest of Kashmiris who are are being used as cannon folders.. Double standards," Ashik wrote on the Facebook post. 573 students of Delhi Public School in Srinagar appeared for their internal exams this month at an indoor stadium inside a high-security zone in the city with assistance from the J&K government. Among those who attended the exams for DPS students of classes 9 and 10 in the Civil Lines area from October 1-5 was the grand daughter of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. The daughter of Geelani's eldest son Dr Nayeem Zafar Geelani, she is a class 10 student in the school. Since the killing of Wani on July 8, government and private schools across the Valley have remained shut for 112 consecutive days, with the Hurriyat refusing to exempt them from its protest calendar. Recently, in an effort to break the shutdown and bring students back to school, the state government had announced that it would conduct the final exams of all classes on time. But the separatists are continuing calling for shutdowns. The separatists have also been slammed advocating vandalizing of public property and beating up the people. For the last two weeks, many vehicles were set on fire by the miscreants who were enforcing the shutdown call of separatists. While on social media, people express their anger against the separatists. "What have the poor Autowallas done? Why was his auto rickshaw been set on fire? Why atleast no condemnation from SAS Geelani," a Facebook user posted on the FB. Another user replied, "These miscreants do all this on behalf of their masters.. separatists." A Facebook posted by a Rabiya said, "Separatist's children are studying abroad and get crores from across the border. They are most interested in keep the pot boiling." The torching of auto rickshaws drew a flak from the people who were demanded that these miscreants should be put behind bars. |
