HM terrorist held with arms, ammunition | | | Early Times Report
Kulgam, Oct 28: Security forces on Friday morning apprehended a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorist from Rampora village of this southern district. According to police sources, police, army and CRPF's 18 Bn in joint operation laid a siege around Rampora early Friday morning after receving a specific input about the presence of a militant in the area. Sources said that during a brief search operation, militant along with arms and live ammunition was apprehended. Briefing media at Kulgam in the afternoon, Kulgam SP Sreedhar Patil identified the arrested militant as Manzoor Ahmad Khan alias Manna Khan alias Jaffer, son of Ghulam Nabi Khan of Doobi Mohallah, Batamaloo, in Srinagar. One Pak pistol, a Chinese handgrenade, a pouch, a sleeping bag and 19 AK rounds were recovered from his possession, the SP said. Police have also arrested Mohammad Yaqoob Dar, son of Abdul Gani Dar of Hamdan Pora, Rampora, for providing logistic support to the militant. Police have registered a case under sections 307 and 109 of RPC and section 7/25 of Arms Act and initiated a probe. Jaffer is a surrendered militant and had joined militant ranks two months or so back. With his arrest, police hope to bust the Hm module in the district. |
