Mirwaiz highlights demerits of his own strike call | It can't get more hilarious! | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 17: The phrase- Pot calling the kettle black- turned pertinent on Saturday with the statement from separatist leader Mirwiaz Umar Farooq who castigated the government for imposing curbs in the volatile areas of the summer capital- Srinagar. The amusing statement was issued by the Mirwaiz in which he "expressed concern" over the curbs imposed on public gatherings in Srinagar by the state dispensation. What Mirwaiz probably forgot was that it was all because of the strike call when he himself along with Yasin Malik and Geelani had given bandh call for Saturday. Asking people to protest on streets and compelling them to shut their daily businesses has become a trademark of the separatists in Kashmir. With the state dispensation imposing restrictions to avoid any turbulence in law and order, an illogical statement was issued by the Mirwaiz. However, it was merely few hours after the statement was issued by the separatist- Mirwaiz Umar that it met public wrath on social media at large. The people questioned him over the illogical statement in which he had stated that the people face inconvenience due to restrictions and curbs imposed by the state dispensation. There were others who too jumped into the chorus, asking separatists the reasons behind paralysing the Kashmir Valley and then accusing the security grid of imposing curbs. "You ask people to hit the streets, take law in their own hands and observe strike. And on the other hand, you start issuing a detailed statement about how the strike call affects a common man. What the hell is really going on in your mind," another social media user said. Hilariously, Mirwaiz's spokesman said that just after a single incident anywhere in Jammu and Kashmir, government wastes no time in imposing curbs in downtown and confining people in their homes without worrying for the basic rights of people living in downtown, Srinagar. Taking a dig at the ruling dispensation, the spokesman said that beyond imposition of toughest curbs in downtown, the government has developed a habit of placing the amalgam chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house detention. He said it was only after 13 days of continuous house confinement that Mirwaiz was allowed to address the Friday gathering at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar and soon after his return; he was yet again placed under house detention. He said this reflects the autocratic mindset of those at the helm. |
