Srinagar, Feb 22: "Sheikh ul Alam International Airport, which is claimed to be at 2nd rank in the world is lacking basic facilities. According to sources, the airport lack basic facilities for those passengers, who have to wait outside for their flight and other people (attendants) who come along with their loved ones to receive or see off them. The travellers have to be there for some two hours prior to their departure but when they visit the toilets, they were totally dejected over their pathetic condition. "The toilets are totally filthy, the flush point are total filthy, cigarette bits and other tobacco products could be found there", the attendants said. Airport Authority of India is unable to maintain hygienic standards and take proper infection control measures, people visiting valley's lone International Airport said. Zahoor Ahmad a traveller, alleged that apart from being dirty, there are no specific bathrooms for men and women while most of them are without doors due to which the female attendants find it difficult to use them. Though the Airport Authority time and again claims that they always work hard to keep the toilets clean, but the ground reality is very different. |
