BJP, Congress both responsible for sheltering Rohingyas in Jammu: Harsh | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 22: Expressing indignation over the gross failure of the BJP-PDP government in deporting Rohingyas and Bangladeshis from Jammu despite brewing public outrage, a strong contingent of Panther activists spearheaded by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and Yash Paul Kundal State President Young Panthers staged a vociferous protest demonstration against the sinister alliance at Exhibition Ground today. The leaders and the protestors accused BJP-PDP disregarding the public sentiment with regard to the eviction of the illegal foreign immigrants from Jammu region. They torched the effigy of coalition govt and sought repatriation of the illegally settled foreigners without any further delay. With dozens FIRs registered against Rohingyas for various offences, Harsh Dev Singh regretted that the BJP partnered dispensation had not responded to the alarming situation which could vitiate peace in the 'city of temples'. He said that while the NC, PDP and other Kashmir centric parties were openly supporting them to tow the secessionist agenda in the State, the BJP and the Congress were blaming each other for their illegal settlement. He said that if the Rohingyas were settled in Jammu during congress rule, the BJP had provided them all amenities and facilitated their stay in and around Jammu and were both equally responsible. He said that it was an unpleasant truth that the number of illegal foreign immigrants in Jammu region had soared under BJP rule with the reported estimate of more than 20,000 Rohingyas camping in Jammu and Samba districts. Hitting out at the State government, Harsh Dev Singh said that the much trumpeted group of four cabinet Ministers headed by Dy CM Nirmal Singh to identify the unlawful immigrants had only proved as 'mirage' to hoodwink the masses which only indicated that BJP-PDP had colluded to settle them in Jammu region. Yash Paul Kundal alleged sacrilegious acts and established involvement in drugs trade by Rohingyas and said that there were reports of Rohingyas having been involved in the crime to flare up communal tension in Jammu city which also instigated the people to come on the roads to lodge their protest. Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Rajesh Padgotra, Gagan Partap Singh, Parshotam Parihar, Sham Gorkha, Khajoor Singh, Mohinder Singh, Neeraj Gupta, Rashpaul Singh, Vishab Singh, Rohit Sharma, Sansar Chand, Jeevan Sharma besides others. |
