| Protest against administration, construction company held | | |  Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Mar 26: Under huge cry over closure of Ramban -Maitra road for the last around two months general Public of Ramban staged protest demonstration against construction company engaged for the construction of four laning project flyover besides district administration and local representative, here today. The protest was lead by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) general secretary and former MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar.
The protestors raised slogans against the district administration, MLA Ramban and GAMMON Company. People alleged that the role of local administration and representative in Assembly seems suspicious for playing a role of mute spectator by sidelining the problems of people of Ramban and forced the people to come on road.
Addressing the gathering Ashok Kumar said construction companies put the lives of people at stake as District Hospital (DH) which is situated in Ramban town and people from Maitra are forced to travel for 12 KM and bear huge fare of taxi and auto to reach DH Ramban.
He further said that the commuters coming from Gool and other adjoining area are facing same problem. Ashok Kumar gave a ultimatum to the concern construction company and administration to restore the road for light motor vehicle within ten days otherwise people are compelled to protest in mass on National Highway block the same.
Huge gathering of people sat on protest dharna on district headquarter road and block the road for more than 2 hours. Later the protest came to end after the intervention of Tehsildar Ramban Parmod Kumar, Naib Tehsildar Ramban and representatives of construction company who assured the crowd that within a period of 10 days the road will be restore. |
