Jammu, Mar 26: The sleuths of Excise Department at Toll Post, Kote Punnu, foiled a major attempt of smuggling Polythene into the State by seizing 8000 kgs of banned polythene bags. On subjecting, a truck bearing registration No. PB10EH-4516, to special physical check, it was found loaded with potatoes and polythene. As per the documents, the vehicle was declared to be carrying 'Potatoes'. However, on physical checking by Inspector Arun Kumar, and Sub-Inspector Dharmveer and Excise Guard/ Orderly Rakesh Kumar the vehicle was found loaded with 8000 kgs of Polythene concealed beneath the Potatoes. The smugglers have adopted different modes for smuggling of Polythene into the State but the Excise sleuths have foiled their many attempts of smuggling polythene into the State. The said vehicle was seized with the support of SHO Rajbagh Sarbjeet Singh and his team. The vehicle alongwith seized Polythene has been handed over to the concerned agency for taking further action under rules. The whole operation was supervised by SSP Suleman Choudhary, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Vishesh Paul Mahajan and Additional S.P Sanjay Parihar and carried out by Excise & Taxation Officers, Sourabh Sharma, Suraj Chander Singh, Sandeep Gupta, Varinder Gupta Virinder Pawar and I/c PP Hariachak S.I Mohan Lal. Javed Ahmed Khan Excise Commissioner, has conveyed his appreciation to the team at Toll Post Lakhanpur and all other minor Toll Posts and has enjoined them to carry on their special drive to thwart the nefarious designs of smugglers in future also. |
