Rajouri CMO curtails powers of BMOs | `Block officers can only seek explanation' | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Apr 5: Curtailing the powers of the BMOs, the CMO Rajouri has made clear that the BMOs cannot suspend officials found absent, or on unauthorised leave during their surprise visits. The CMO has further said that the BMOs can seek explanation from the erring officials. "In case any official/officer is found defaulter during their (BMOs) they will seek explanations from the concerned and will recommend the case(s) to his office for initiating action as required under rule," said CMO in the order. In this connection a circular No.CMO/R/2018-19 dt 3/4/2018 was issued by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Rajouri and all the BMOs have been directed to furnish to his office the monthly/weekly duty roaster of all the CHCs/PHCs falling under their respective jurisdictions for necessary action. The order came after Dr Iqbal, BMO, Kotranka had paid surprise visit to health sub centre at Sankari village and found it locked. The visit was reportedly conducted after the complaints by the locals as some women had come to the centre for vaccination of their child but the staff didn't turn up till 12.30 pm. BMO on spot issued suspension orders for the entire staff of four members including a Pharmacist, two FMPHWs and a safaiwala and directed another Pharmacist to join at this centre. Reliable sources said that close relative of a suspended employee is posted in the office of CMO who reportedly trying to cancel the suspension orders by claiming that BMO had not visited the centre physically on Sunday. A team constituted by Dr Suresh Gupta ,CMO consisting of District Helath Officer, Assistant Director (AD, planning) and a Laboratory Technician today visited Sankari village to interact with the people who allegedly had lodged a complaint with the BMO that the staff members rarely attend their duties and to authenticate whether the BMO had paid surprise visit to this centre on Sunday or not. People had also blamed that no medicine was available at this health centre and even the staff posted is not fully trained. "Necessary action will be taken against the erring officials after the report of the team that visited Sankari village today," said the CMO. |
