Hierarchical 'disorder' always there in JU | Members dissent inclusion of students in probe panel, quit | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 5: Dissenting Wednesday's pact between agitating students and the university administration in which it was agreed that students would also be members of inquiry committee, all the members quit on Thursday. On Wednesday, to end the agitation of students, the administration, of JU agreed upon all the demands raised by the students, it was also agreed the students would also be members of the inquiry committee looking into students conducts and misbehave with teachers. "This is first time in the history of the university when students will be made part of a enquiry committee as members. They remanded and we full filled without giving any thought. It means tomorrow they will demand to sit in recruitment too. And we will accept. We are stooping so low the university statutes have no meaning for us", said one of the members of inquiry committee who resigned from the committee with other members on Thursday. The JU had constituted a six-member committee to look into the causes of unrest in the campus. "Prof Pankaj Srivastav as convenor of the committee, while Prof Jaspal, Prof P S Manhas, Prof Monica Sethi, Prof Jyoti Wakhloo and Dr Satinder Kumar as members of the committee", informed a member. "Students to be involved in the enquiry committee, the impartial character of the teachers have also been negotiated by the teachers only. Where we want to take to our A+ University, i have resigned from the Enquiry Committee", the member said. However, terming it a hierarchical 'disorder' the students said that it reflects how 'unbiased' the teachers are. "All the time, they (teachers) remained convenors/members of the committees, but never objected, now whey they are playing tricks, if there is not loophole on the part of teachers' fraternity they should welcome of our inclusion into the committee", the student said, whishing not to be named. |
