Government indecisive on 7th pay commission | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 5: The Jammu and Kashmir government appears to be in a fix over implementation of the much-awaited 7th pay commission in the state. Sources privy to the development divulged that there is no forward movement related to the implementation of the 7th pay commission, and the government's assurance to implement it from April this year seems to have been kept in limbo. More than 70 representations have been received by the government over the removal of various anomalies, said sources. The decision in this regard is yet to be taken by the people at the helm. It was informed that till date there is no consensus over the resolution of the issues being confronted by the employees of the state due to various anomalies and that the government apprehends backlash if it goes ahead with the implementation of the 7th pay commission without taking into account the 70 representations it has received from various employee unions. An official divulged that earlier there were chances that formal orders would be issued by the Finance department in the first week of April. However, as things are turning entangling for the officials, the process is getting delayed with each passing day. "No matter how hard one would try, it is always difficult to consider each and every suggestion. There are efforts being laid to cover maximum possible ground ahead of announcing the implementation of the pay hike for the state government employees. Till then, the deliberations would only prolong," said an official. Last month, a threadbare discussion was held for the issuance of relevant SRO regarding the implementation of 7th pay commission recommendations. The minister incharge of the Finance portfolio was informed that arrangements were made for implementing the 7th pay commission for state government employees and pensioners in the state. However, more than half a month has been passed since then and there is no forward movement. As per reports there were already directions passed t0 the concerned officers to make it effective from this month as per the commitment made by the government in budget 2018-19. The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary Finance, Navin Kumar Choudhary and other senior officers of the Finance department. |
