Fulfil your promise on BPL ration: People of Chatroo to CAPD Minister

Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 14: The people of Chatroo sub division including Mughal Maidan Tehsil have expressed their anger and outrage towards the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD) for its failure to adhere to the promise made by the minister Chowdhary Zulfikar Ali.
The minister, during his visit to the area in February, had assured the people that being a poor and far flung area, the government will provide them ration in the ration of 90 (BPL): 10 (Priority) basis for which the department along with officials of Revenue Department have prepared the list in 2015.
The people said they have found that the administration has reversed the list and fixed new list in the ration of 60:40 ratio, as a result of which many poor and deserving people were left out of the BPL list.
The angry people told the Early Times that after the assurance from the CAPD Minister, they had felt happy, but to their disappointment the list submitted by the officials of Food Department and the Revenue Department was based on 60:40 ratio which has caused a great resentment among the locals.
The people called on the authorities to fulfill the promises made by the minister. They said that they even moved to the office of Tehsildar Mughal Maidan wherein the Revenue officials as well as the officials of the Food department including concerned Tehsil Supply Officer was also present. They said that all the officials showed helplessness in changing the list with the explanation that same has been prepared as per the intimation of the senior officials. The people allege that BPL Quota of ration cards kept for Chatroo sub division was shifted to other parts of the district due to political interference. The people said that they have no concern with other parts of the district where more ratio of BPL ration quota was given to the people.
They said they want that deserving people of Chatroo too should be given the same benefits as more than 90% population in Chatroo is poor based of SC/ST category. They called upon the authorities to immediately revoke the list and provide the ration to the people in the ratio of 90:10.
They said that in case the government fails to provide justice to the people of Chatroo, they will come on roads.
