3 Kishtwar youth make device to curb over loading, over speeding | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Kishtwar, May 4: As Kishtwar District is celebrating the success of local boy Abhishek Sharma in prestigious civil service exam, three Kishtwar teens Moin Bashir Zarger, Arsalan Zarger and Mohammad Sameer ul Haq have prepared a device which will help to curb over loading and excessive speed in accidental prone areas of not only in Jammu and Kashmir or in India, but in entire world. Hailing from a hilly place these teen agers under the guidance of Physics lecturer Arshad Hussain Dev made the device. Sharing the details about the innovation which they named as "Over Loading Detector in Vehicles (ODV)", all the three were exited with the response they get from the leading luminary during their participation in last month function organized by National Innovation Foundation of India at New Delhi-the function which was presided over by President of India Ram Nath Kovind. Elaborating on this innovation, Moin Bashir Zarger said that their device "ODV" is a solution for menace of over loading and over speeding in vehicles which are the main reasons for increase day to day accidents. "We got the idea from the growing accidents in Chenab valley which is a hilly and highly accidental prone area-the main reason behind these accidents is overloading and over speed-we developed a device (ODV)-if it is installed in the vehicles, accidents could be checked, " said Moin Bashir Zarger. He said that the device works on the sensors installed at the doors of the vehicles which not only counts the number of passengers on vehicle, but all the load and same is displayed on the screen of the device. He said that the device could be connected to Traffic control room or with any mobile through data transmitter and the massage along with vehicle number will get flesh to traffic control room or on the mobile phone in case of over loading and over speed. He said that the device will also measure the load of the vehicle and in case of heavy load beyond the permissible limit; the sensor installed on the vehicle will intimate the same. He said that accordingly the said vehicle could be challaned or action as warranted could be initiated against the driver of the vehicle. Sameer Ul Haq said that they feel happy that their innovation gets good response at an all India level program where around 60 models were selected from across the country. "This program commonly known as "festival of innovation" runs for five days where professionals, IIT,ians visited and appreciated the model" Sameer ul Haq said. He said that several companies shows good interest in their innovation and approach them and exchange email address and phone numbers. He said that these companies also offer them services for patent of the same. Arsalan Zarger said that they are looking forward for the state government help so that they can improve further functioning of the device. "We have many innovation ideas-we want to convert them into reality for which we require financial and other support from the government of Jammu and Kashmir" said Arsalan Zarger. All the three are hoping that state government will own their innovation and install the same in the state own vehicles, commercial vehicles as well as in private vehicle so that the precious lives could be saved from falling prey to accidents. They said that the device is also valuable for the private transporters who run vehicles on various routes as it will help them to remain updated about their vehicles. He said that the device could hardly cost around Rs. 5000 which is far less as far as damages suffered through day to day accidents. It is pertinent to mention that the two National Highways viz Kishtwar-Doda-Batote along with Batote-Ramban-Srinagar National Highways and other roads of these four Districts gives sleepless nights to the people. It was around four decades ago when the first major bus accident took place at Raginallah in 60's in which over three dozen people lost their lives followed by another major accident at same place in the year 1988 at the same spot in which all the passengers on board died--- this was not only an accident for the people living in twin Districts of Doda and Kishtwar-but it too gets the tag of "Ghost" as many people believe that the Ghost of some passengers died in previous accident at the same spot seems to be looking for the blood of young people--- after this belief, the passengers travelling on Kishtwar-Jammu National Highway stop at the said accident site and were seen praying at the spot which continued for many years. With the increase in roads and number of passengers travelling to & fro, the number of accidents cross the number that surprise to many--- over 1500 accidents took place in Jammu Division every year with over 2000 deaths and as many as over 5000 injuries-- majority of them took place in the "Valley of deaths" alone. In last over two decades, the valley of death has witnessed over 25000 accidents claiming the lives of thousands of people while at the same time making thousands other handicapped, paralysed and thus change the course of life in lives of several. The data many a time reveals that the lives lost in accidents are more than the lives claimed in terror related incidents. After two infamous Raginallah incidents, the "valley of deaths" witnessed several major accidents which include at Galgander on Doda-Bhaderwah road with over 44 deaths, at Warra on Kishtwar-Thatri road with 39 deaths, at Banderkoot on Kishtwar-Chatroo road with 38 deaths including over 2 dozen government teachers, Shashoo on Kishtwar Padder road with 42 deaths, near Hasti on Kishtwar-Sarthal road with over two dozen deaths including 14 members of a same family, near Thatri pul claiming lives of 32 people , near Kuligard with 36 deaths and many other accidents that claims lives of hundreds of innocent lives beside rendered hundreds of families orphaned. The writing on the walls is very clear "This is the only road on the surface of the earth that takes many directly into the heavens, having 12 parapets with golden bricks" reflect the public anger towards the elected representatives representing the "Valley of death" both in the state as well as in the center in the form of Minister in PMO Dr. Jatindra Singh and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad. |
