Woman injured in cross-border fire, body of missing person found in Kupwara river | | | S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report KUPWARA, May 4: A woman sustained injuries after Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy firing in Tanghdar Sector last night. Meanwhile, the body of a missing man was found in the river. However security forces uses drone to locate the hiding militants in Baramulla district of NKR. Confirming the exchange of fire from both the side, the top police official said that, Pakistani troops targeted Indian posts of army's 20 JAT at Tad along LoC in Tanghdar at 11:00 pm on Thursday, and the fire was retaliated and continued intermittently till 4:30 am today. During the clashes, few shells landed near the civilian population resulting in injuries to a woman, and she was identified as Noor Jahan wife of Ghulam Hassan and has been hospitalized. A top army official while commenting said that there was an unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan rangers in Tanghdar sector, and the vigilant troops have retaliated appropriately. The Pakistani Rangers have been doing this since long time, but we are also giving them befitting reply from time to time, the official added. In the same district body of a 40 year old man who was missing from last one week, was retrieved today from a river near Kawari in this north Kashmir district. The deceased has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad S/O Ghulam Hassan Pir, a resident of Thindipora Muqam, Kralpora. A senior police official from the area said that investigations have been taken up to ascertain cause of death. Meanwhile a joint team of security forces including army's 46 RR and SOG of police on Friday resumed Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Drangbal area of Baramulla district after suspending it for the night. A drone camera has been put into service to locate the hidden militants in Drangbal area of Baramulla district. Sources told ET that CASO was launched in the Drangbal area on Thursday after input about the presence of militants. "Forces sealed all the entry and exit points of the area to negate any possibility of escape", said sources. |
