Power Grid accuses JMC for not clearing choked drain | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 7: A drainage coming from Narwal Side on Panama Chowk got choked and the sewage water started overflowing at Residential Complex Power Grid Corporation of India Limited Panama Chowk, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu has created mess outside of office. Incidentally a small part of the underground drainage passes through the Residential complex and in front of our Executive Director's residence while joining the main drain touching Gandhi Nagar Sub station. Initially the choked drain seeped up in front of Executive Director's residence and was dug up by JMC personnel without any success in opening up the choke. Further the same was left open by the concerned engineers while making the area hazardous to life and limb of the denizens. Ultimately the whole drain got choked right from Panama Chowk onwards and for the last six months the drains over flows to the main road connecting Panama Chowk with Mahavir Chowk. Although belated efforts were made to clear the block by the JMC officials however no success was achieved and temporary arrangements have been made by the JMC to pump out the collected black water every day by deploying a pump which is kept in the middle of the road in front of POWERGRID residential complex gate. The sewerage water has not only damaged the road in front of CBI office but the water emanates a very foul smell and has become source of various water borne disease. The broken road, pump in the middle of the road and foul water is impediment to flow of traffic and has contributed to road accidents as well as may cause health hazards to the communities living nearby. |
