| Militants strike at Bijbehara, SPO killed, another injured | | |  Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 15: Militants today attacked a police party in Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's home town Bijbehara.
A policeman was killed and another injured after militants attacked a police vehicle in Pazalpora area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir.
Reports said that head constable Abdul Rashid and Special Police Officer Bilal Ahmad were injured in the attack. Both of them were rushed to sub-district hospital Bijbehara where Ahmad was declared brought dead on arrival.
They said that Rashid was referred to Srinagar after initial treatment at the Sub-district hospital Bijbehara. "Militants fired at police vehicle in Bijbehara. Police retaliated. One policeman injured in the process succumbed to his injury," police said on Twitter.
Soon after the attack security forces rushed towards the spot and cordoned off the area. A wreath laying ceremony was also held in DPL Anantnag this evening to pay tributes to the martyred policeman. |
