udhampur, May 15: In a bizarre and shocking incident, an 14 year old girl student was brutally beaten by the Principal of a Private school here today. Jia Lal, the Father of the 14 year old victim, resident of Majote under the Jurisdiction of Rehmbal Police station Udhampur while talking to ET alleged that his daughter namely Neha Devi studying in Model New Academy was brutally beaten by the principal of the school with a wooden stick . He added that his daughter went to school after three days and today when she reached the school, her Principal beat her brutally. Jia lal told that he took his daughter to the hospital for Medical check up and she had injury marks on her legs and back. He told that when he went to the principal to register his protest, the principal told him that she was well within her rights to beat any student. In July 2010, Ministry of Women and Child Development had issued a new set of guidelines that bans physical punishment of students. First violation of the ban will invite up to one year in jail, or a fine of Rs. 50,000 or both. For subsequent violations, imprisonment could be extended to 3 years with an additional fine of 25,000 rupees. Heads of schools will be responsible to prevent corporal punishment. Teachers found guilty could be denied promotion, and even increments. Sources disclosed that No FIR was registered in Police station yet , but both the Parties went to Police station to register their statements. |
