Srinagar, May 15: Hitting out at people criticising the Congress for reaching out to the Janata Dal (Secular) to form a government in Karnataka, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said BJP would be doing exactly the same thing, if the positions were reversed. ''What about the other states where BJP sneaked in through the back door? What's sauce for the goose must be sauce for the gander Rahul, no?,'' the working president of National Conference (NC), posted on micro-blogging site Twitter. Abdullah was reacting to tweet, which read, ''Sonia Gandhi reaches out to Deve Gowda through Ghulam Nabi Azad. Congress offers CMship to JDS. This would be pathetic. BJP won fair and square. Sneaking in from the back door would be a negation of the mandate.'' The former CM said whether the Congress manages to form a government by supporting JD (S) or not, they shouldn't be criticised for trying. ''BJP would be doing exactly the same thing, if the positions were reversed. 60 per cent of the voters voted for the Cong & JD(S). If the BJP doesn't get the votes & it doesn't get the seats to form a government why blame others for exploring options," he tweeted. However, in an apparent jibe at politicians who alleged EVM tampering, he said, ''Please save this tweet for future reference. If I win it was all my charm & hard work. If I lose it's all down to those blasted EVMs." |
