Early Times Report Jammu, May 27: The pilgrimage to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, which was suspended due to fire in the woods of Trikuta Hills from Tarakote Marg and Battery car track, resumed on Sunday morning. "The fire in the forest of Trikuta Hills broke out on Saturday evening, which forced Shrine Board officials to suspend yatra from twin tracks," an official here said. He said that army choppers and IAF helicopters besides Shrine board officials, police and para military troops were pressed into service to extinguish the fire, adding, "the fire has been partially controlled but men and machinery are on job."Around 31,000 pilgrims were allowed to proceed to trek on Saturday night, while the registration counters were closed thereafter. The yatra has resumed on Sunday morning and the stranded pilgrims are being cleared in view of heavy rush at Katra base camp. |
