Hundreds attend Sharadh Puja in South Kashmir's Martand Temple | | | Early Times Report
ANANTNAG, May 27: Hundreds of Hindus mostly Kashmiri Pandits today turned to attend Shradh Puja in Mattan area of this South Kashmir district. Sharadh Puja is held annually at Martand Sun Temple to remember the departed souls, participants told Early Times. They expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the state government for undertaking worship rituals. Majority among the worshipers were Kashmiri Pandits who wished to return back, however yet again requested state and central government to bring peace in the valley. "We don't have any problem in returning. Many people from our community have already made a comeback but still if both the governments want us here they must improve the situation," they said. They thanked local Muslim community for providing helping hand to them and other visiting worshipers. "Mattan is a living example for communal brotherhood. Majority of population of Mattan town has time and again proved their character and which is one of the reason that around 200 Kashmiri Pandit employees have preferred to hire rooms in Mattan only," they added. |
