SOS international criticizes Union Govt policies
6/9/2018 10:39:15 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, June 9: SOS International-An Organis-ation for PoK Displaced Persons today castigated Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh for his remarks over cash compensation of Rs. 5.5 lakh per family to West Pakistan Refugees at par with PoK refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971.
While issuing a press statement, SOS International Rajiv Chuni said that cash compensation announced by Home Minister to West Pakistan Refugees is a nice step and SOS International welcomes it but PoK DPs have never expected such intensity of disparity by none other than Home Minister of our country as he has levelled state subjects with non state subjects, that is totally out of the ordinary step taken by him.
"There should have been the comparison of same state subjects displaced communities but weird and insane happened. If Singh had to announce anything for displaced communities then Kashmiri Pandits must have been brought at par with PoK DPs as these two state subject communities belong to same state. Home Minister must have announced relief to PoK DPs at par with Kashmiri Pandits then it must have given some sense but Rajnath Singh reversed the flow of river that is quite disappointing", he added.
Chuni further said that all the successive governments have never extended helping hand towards the most destitute community of world and the present Government has also been following same footsteps of its predecessors.
"But PoK DPs can't go to their ancestral places as Line of Control (LoC) had been drawn so PoK DPs can't visit there as per their wish. I would like to ask Home Minister Rajnath Singh who often visits Kashmir take visits to PoK", Chuni asked.
"After watching the episodes of bias between communities, one thing has become quite crystal clear that Prime Ministers are replaced in National Capital but policies remain same. PoK DPs expected fulfillment of their demands from the present dispensation and they had kept faith on Modi Government but this Government has ditched them and it failed to keep up as per the expectations of PoK DPs. I would like to ask Singh that on what grounds, PoK DPs are brought at par with WP refugees as PoK DPs are inhabitants of erstwhile parts of Jammu and Kashmir State that is today known as Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) where WP refugees have never been the resident of the State then how could you say that everything that is being given to WP refugees at par with PoK DPs.
Singh increased monthly cash relief of KPs by 30% but what about PoK DPs who are the part and parcel of same state are deprived of their rights. Everything that is being given to PoK DPs must be provided to PoK DPs because these two communities have left their ancestral places and there should not be any disparity between communities", SOS International chairman added.
He further stated that SOS International has been demanding to constitute PoK DPs Development Board in order to safeguard their cultural, linguistic and traditional identities as they have been getting eroded with the passage of time but it fell on deaf ears or the demand has been deliberately put in cold storage. Other key demands of PoK DPs include reservation to wards in technical and professional colleges across India, employment package for unemployed youths of PoK DP and others haven't given the accommodation in the package.
"What kind of justice is being provided to PoK DPs who have sacrificed their all during Tribal invasion in 1947? Are we just vote bank for political parties? This time PoK DPs will give befitting reply to those forces who have exploited their interest for vested gains. Now, the scenario is going to change as S. O. S. International is going to intensify its struggle by launching awareness programs, indefinite Dharnas and if needed we won't hesitate to give supreme sacrifices to get the much awaited justice.
PoK DPs are harassed and traumatized at every sphere of their lives but this time, we will teach a severe lesson to BJP that has brought nothing but gloomy days for us. We are still spending our lives in filthy camps and our youths are constrained to do meager jobs like laborer, cleaner, domestic help etc. The time has come to raise the standard of our next generation and this goal can only be achieved once all PoK DPs get united", he added.
