| Soldier commits suicide | | | Rajouri, June 11: A soldier with less than three years of service in the army has committed suicide in the afternoon today while manning the forward post in Poonch district.
The deceased has been identified as 23 years Grenadier Ranjot Singh s/o Gurmukh singh r/o Ranjitgarh colony in Rupnagar district of Punjab and is survived by his parents.
The army has not came out with the reason behind the extreme step taken by the soldier but the reliable sources said that either domestic problem or long hours duty on the border could be the reason behind the suicide.
The soldier was posted in Field Regiment and has committed suicide reportedly with his service weapon at post No.3 in Poonch sector.
The police after legal formalities including seizure of the weapon of brought the body to district hospital for post-mortem and later handed over to the unit to be handed over to legal heirs for his last rites. |
