Early Times Report Jammu, June 11: Now-a-days, the Health department is hospital buildings but hundreds of health sub-centres established with fanfare in year 2014 in rural areas under National Health Mission are craving for its permanent buildings. Sources informed Early Times that in 2014, under state government order No: 584 HME of 2014, the then state government of NC-Congress had announced 826 new Sub-centre under National Health Mission would be established in leftover rural area of the state. As per the order, the government had announced that out of 826 Sub-centre, 430 would be established in Jammu division and remaining ones 396 would be established in Kashmir division but ironically only 24 Sub-centre have been functioning from the government buildings wherein five from Jammu and 19 from Kashmir and leftover running from private accommodation. "However, just after the announcement, the then Health Minister had also announced that the government has formulated a comprehensive plan for construction of sub centre's building in rural areas, which are functioning from rented structures, that too in a phased manner but after lapse of sufficient times since the announcement was made, no sub-centre building was constructed so far, resulting of which most of centre runs with limited resources", said sources while wishing anonymity. It is pertinent to mention here that it is not a saga of only Health Sub-centre which are running from rented buildings, there are more than 185 New Type of Public Health Centre (NTPHC) which were upgraded from Sub-centre to PHC level, have also been running from private accommodation. "In Jammu division, out of 117 NTPHC, nearly 34 having sans for government buildings whereas in Kashmir division out of 313-NTPHC, there are 151 were running from private buildings, which shows negligence on part of state government to construct permanent health buildings", said sources. |
