World day against child labour celebrated | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 12: World Day Against Child Labour was celebrated on 12th June 2018 in three villages of three different districts namely Kotli Tanda in Jammu district, Smailpur in Samba district and Kuniyan in Poonch district through series of events aiming at raising awareness and activism to prevent child labour organised by National Development Foundation (NDF), Jammu with the support of European Union. NDF intends to contribute towards worldwide movement against child labour to create Child Labour Free Zones in 30 villages of 3 districts in Jammu & Kashmir. Sensitisation programmes were held with Children Group and Child Protection Committee members of 3 villages on various factors, harmful effects and consequences of Child Labour and to promote Community based child protection mechanism as one of the possible solutions to prevent and end Child Labour. Children were then encouraged to develop Information and Education Material on "Stop Child Labour" and "Importance of Education" which was followed by Children led rallies in 3 villages. Children shouted slogans and held placards depicting messages to "end child labour" and "promotion of education" during rallies organised in 3 villages to sensitise the community members to end Child Labour. |
