Ram Madhav's Kashmir visits unnerve Mehbooba
6/30/2018 11:27:34 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 30: Even as the Bharatiya Janata Party has been hinting that it was making no attempt on "horse-trading" to form government in Jammu and Kashmir, the visits of BJPs point man on Kashmir Ram Madhav to the Valley has allegedly unnerved former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti.
Sources said Mehbooba had been keenly keeping track of Ram Madhav's visits to Kashmir and his growing affinity with the separatist turned mainstream leader Sajjad Gani Lone.
Sources said Mehbooba apprehends that through Sajjad Lone, the BJP was trying a secret attempt of "horse trading" by luring the "potential blacksheep in her party."
Sources said Mehbooba suspects that a few of her senior leaders could get lured towards the BJP through Sajjad Lone as the "coterie enjoys good chemistry". Sources said atleast three of her senior party colleagues are already seen as close to Sajjad Lone and that they could be used. "One of them was ditched by PDP Government so PDP apprehends a revenge from him," said a PDP leader.
Sources said Mehbooba has passed a "verbal party whip" to the cadres to refrain from any deliberations with the Sajjad Lone group or the BJP leadership in general and that any such attempt would be seen as "Namak Harami".
Sources said some of the PDP leaders, mainly from south Kashmir who are close to Mehbooba have already started "briefing her on the issue and how the party should play safely."
Sources said Mehbooba may call a meeting with her close aides to decide future course of action. The meeting is likely to be held in the coming days at her Fairview residence.
Despite repeated attempts Mehbooba Mufti couldn't be contacted for comments.
