Not a single rupee spent on rehab of Jammu migrants
Out of PM's 80k cr package

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 30: What more could reveal the failure of the previous regime in the state than the fact that for the rehabilitation of the Jammu migrants, the government didn't spend a single penny in all these years out of the allocated Rs 13 crore from the Prime Minister's package.
The official documents in possession of Early Times reveal that in November 2015, a special package for the Jammu migrants was sanctioned by the government of India via Prime Minister's economic package that was announced for J&K at large. Out of the total amount of Rs 80 thousand crore, Rs 13 cr was kept for the rehabilitation of the Jammu migrants. However, as per the official figures, not even a single rupee has so far been spent on the ground for the purpose. Such a situation has taken a lid off of the claims being made by the helmsmen that there wasn't any stone left unturned to ensure the upliftment of the downtrodden in the society.
Pertinent to mention here that most of the Jammu migrants who bore the brunt of militancy in the past are even at present taking shelter at Talwara camp. The camp has over 2,200 families, who had fled their homes in Reasi, Udhampur, Doda, Rajouri and Poonch districts during the height of militancy in Jammu region in the 1990s.
The people at Talwara camp still continue to live without basic amenities despite a Supreme Court ruling in 2004.
The number of such families was estimated around 57000. Most of the families got settled or sought refuge in and around Jammu city and some in the other states of the country. Uprooting of such families from their homes and hearths as a result of the turmoil in the valley caused an all-round upheaval leading to various unfortunate developments at the state, national and international levels.
In order to look after the welfare of such families who had to leave the valley in difficult conditions leaving both movable and immovable property behind and to meet their day to day requirements, the state government created the Relief Organisation for looking after such families and to provide them immediate relief such as Cash Assistance, Free Ration, Shelter etc.
The organisation since 1990 claims to have been continuously providing every type of assistance to the families putting up in and around Jammu and also under the instructions of Govt. of India, other states, where ever the migrants got settled are also providing some facilities to the migrant families.
