PIL seeking better care of old age home | DB directs respondents to release funds | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 6: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Viklang Chattra Trust seeking better care of old age home, a Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta after hearing Sr. Adv Sunil Sethi with Adv Sumit Nayyar for the PIL observed that In terms of order dated 31.03.2018, respondent-Director Social Welfare Department has filed the compliance report whereby the details of approved beneficiaries under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) and funds released/Pension paid during 2017-18. DB further observed that perusal of funds reveals requirement for clearing pendency of cases under Old Age/ Widow/ Divorcee/ Physically Handicapped, which are 56559 in numbers, pending with the government for clearance and directed respondents to release the funds as required in terms of the table referred above to the concerned department enable them to release the same to the beneficiaries. DB further directed that this exercise be done within a period of six weeks from the date a copy of this order is made available to them and shall file compliance report on the next date of hearing. Further direction to the Director Social Welfare Department to consider and decide the pending cases of the Old Age under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) which are centrally sponsored schemes for the poor people falling below poverty line as mentioned in the table and file compliance report in this regard also. |
