| Murder under trial accused dies in police custody | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, July 6: In a bizarre incident a under trial accused involved in a murder case has died in the hospital reportedly after complaints of breathlessness and chest pain.
"Cardiac arrest could be the reason behind the death of the accused but the exact reason will be established only after the report of FSL, " said Medical Superintendent, district hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Latief son of Faqir Mohammed resident of Rattal under Rajouri police jurisdiction.
Sources said the deceased was facing murder charges and was lodged in district jail at Dhangri. In the early morning hours the accused, according police sources, informed the jail authorities about uneasiness and chest pain and was rushed to district hospital.
"The deceased reached hospital at about 6 am having high blood pressure and complaining about chest pain and breathlessness. He was immediately provided necessary medical treatment but he died at about 7 am" said Dr Mehmood Bajar, Medical superintendent; district hospital.
Post mortem was conducted under the supervision Medical superintendent and in the presence of 1st class Magistrate. He might have died of cardiac arrest but it could not be confirmed. The reason behind the death will be clear only after the report from Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). |
