CTF delegation calls on Commissioner Commercial Taxes | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 12: Concerned over shifting of business to neighboring states due to exploitation of various loopholes in J&K trade scenario especially continuation of Toll Tax on Goods, a delegation of Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF) led by its President Neeraj Anand called upon Commissioner Commercial Taxes, M. Raju. Anand apprised the Commissioner of various problems facing the genuine dealers of J&K besides explained to him how common masses are paying a higher price than rest of India. "Continuation of Toll Tax on Goods in Jammu and Kashmir has grossly affected the genuine traders , the impact is more especially being felt across all items of mass use in construction activity like cement, electrical goods, sanitary goods and plywoods," said Anand. Citing the increase in price of a few items on account of toll tax further hiked in the last budget, he brought forth the huge price difference between the landing price for a local dealer and what is being offered by "resourceful" dealers from the neighboring State. "unscrupulous elements in connivance have further widened the price difference', he added. Anand apprehended that in all probability the resultant effect shall also be found in the loss of revenue to the exchequer. Expressing anguish at the casual approach of the elected ruling dispensation who were approached umpteen number of times. |
