Woman denied treatment at hospital, medical staff absent | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 4: Another incident of medical apathy was reported in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. A woman was denied treatment at a Primary Health Centre by the hospital staff. She was allegedly hit by an ox in her lower abdomen and was in immense pain when the doctors denied her treatment. Meanwhile, the local MLA intervened in the situation, initially the doctors refused to treat her but when the MLA strongly insisted then the doctors paid some heed to the patient. The local resident said, "The girl was in pain as an ox had hit in her stomach. When we reached the hospital the doctors denied her treatment and claimed that they do not treat patients after 2 pm. The whole hospital was empty there was no doctor or any medical staff present at the hospital. Only after insisting them for minutes they decided to call a doctor from his home, who came and treated the girl." A similar case of medical apathy was reported in Madhya Pradesh, where an ambulance was denied to a full-time pregnant woman by a community hospital. As a result, she was forced to deliver the child on a moving bus without any medical aid. The negligent hospital staff asked the woman to move to a district hospital when she was almost about to deliver her child and was in critical condition. |
