DAHWA launches handholding, nurturing programme | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 26: As part of Nai Roshani Scheme for Leadership Development of Minority Women of Ministry for Minority Affairs, Government of India, the Destitute and Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA) launched Handholding and Nurturing programme for the trained women in an effort to make them community-based leaders or trainers. DAHWA President, S.S. Sumbria along with the trainers visited Rathian village, the camp location, in Udhampur district and convened meeting with the scheme beneficiaries. The trained women evinced keen interest in identifying and taking up issues of their respective areas and highlighted a number of problems and demands they have analyzed. The Nai Roshani beneficiaries projected several cases need to be taken up under ICPS besides giving a list of several new pension cases. They also highlighted other demands like proper voltage during power supply, regular water supply which is now available only once in a week, construction of Rathian to Loundana road etc.
During the programme, the women were encouraged for formation of self help groups or mahila mandals/mahila sabhas to manage their issues in a better way for the good of their community. |
