BJP ignores all workers of former Minister for municipality elections | Many likely to file nomination as independents | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 26: The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has ignored all the workers of its former minister, denying them tickets for municipal elections across Jammu province. The workers of this former minister are likely to file nomination papers as independent candidates from various wards of Basohli and Kathua constituency. According to sources, the BJP high command had invited the senior party leader for various meetings in Basohli as well as Kathua constituency for finalizing the party strategy for the municipality elections as well as finalizing the names of the party candidates. "Time and again party had invited the former minister for meetings but he avoided all the invitations after which the party decided to finalize the names of candidates as per the reports forwarded by other leaders", sources said. Sources in Kathua and Basohli constituencies revealed that in Kathua, not even a single worker of the former minister has been given ticket by the party. "Though in Basohli Municipality, the party had decided to give the ticket to a candidate, who was worker of the said leader but he showed reluctance after party kept the name of candidate pending for few days", sources said . In Lakhanpur Municipal Committee, the workers of this leader used to be presidents but this time, none of them was given ticket from BJP as the party has already finalized the names of their candidates for Lakhanpur. "The workers of the said leader are likely to file nomination as independent candidates from Lakhanpur", sources said. |
