Petition seeking telecast in Bhaderwahi disposed off
9/26/2018 9:29:47 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 26: Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta disposed off the PIL seeking a direction to the respondents to include Bhaderwahi Language in the notice invitation proposal for commissioning programmes to be telecast on DD Kashir.
The respondents in their reply submitted that vide order dated 26-12-2001, the limited purpose was served by including the Bhaderwahi dialect in Commissioning and acquisition, in year 2001. The notification issued from DD Kashir in June & July 2017 was about invitation of programmes in different languages like Kashmiri, Dogri Laddakhi etc, however, the Bhaderwahi dialect was not mentioned therein. It is pertinent that Bhaderwahi is a dialect and not a language, accordingly, it was not included with other languages.
DB after going through the reply observed that in view of the aforesaid stand taken by the respondents it is evident that the Bhaderwahi is a dialect and not a language. It is also pertinent to mention here that Doordarshan Kashmir is telecasting programmes in Bhaderwahi dialect in Doordarshan Jammu in order to serve the purpose in accordance with judgment dated 26.12.2001 passed by this Court and hence disposed off the petition.
