India but Pak is specific about talks | | | Though India ready for dialogue with "everyone" on Kashmir issue, Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said, days after India cancelled a foreign minister-level talks with Pakistan. Singh, however, claimed that militancy in Kashmir Valley is "Pakistan-sponsored". The Union Home Minister is not specific about whether India was opening the doors for talks with Pakistan or will be trying to involve a third party in securing Pakistan's willingness to resolve the Kashmir issue. However, on the other side Pakistan is specific about resolving the Kashmir issue through talks with India. If New Delhi is not interested in talks with Islamabad how is it then possible to settle the Kashmir issue "I think the (Kashmir) matter will be resolved. We are ready to talk to everyone," says Rajnath Singh. The home minister said as far as "terrorism" in Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, all security agencies are working in coordination. "Terrorism in Kashmir is Pakistan-sponsored," he said. India had called off a meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries in New York, barely 24 hours after agreeing to the engagement, citing the killings of three policemen in Jammu and Kashmir and Islamabad releasing postage stamps "glorifying" Kashmiri militant Burhan Wani. Burhan Wani's killing in an encounter had set new dimensions for militancy related violence. Street protests became a fashion in Kashmir and during encounters between security forces and militants protesters clash with the security forces to divert their attention and even during the burial of some militants crowds surface in the burial ground where protesters clash with the security forces India's reluctance to hold talks with Pakistan will not stop Islamabad from closing doors on its efforts to promote peace in the region, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said, days after New Delhi cancelled the foreign minister-level meeting in New York. Qureshi has said India used incidents that happened in July to cancel peace talks that it agreed to in September. India on Friday cited the killing of three policemen in Jammu and Kashmir as well as the release of the postal stamps glorifying Kashmiri militant Burhan Wani for calling off the meeting between External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and her Pakistani counterpart Qureshi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York this month. "India is reluctant, we will not close our doors," Qureshi said. However, Qureshi is wrong when he says that killing of three policemen dated back to July but all these incidents took place in September and that is the reason for India to call off the talks. |
