2 years jail for causing death due to rash driving | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 27: Excise Magistrate Jammu Madan lal today awarded 2 years imprisonment and fine Rs 5000/- to Jagmeet Singh a truck driver for causing death due to rash driving. Excise Magistrate Jammu Madan lal after hearing Senior PO Jatinder Anand for the State whereas Adv GS Sarkaria appearing for the accused observed that prosecution has proved the charges of offence u/s 304-A and awarded simple imprisonment of two year and fine of Rs. 5000/-. Court further said that 50 % fine shall be paid to family of victim. In default of payment of fine amount, accused shall undergo simple imprisonment for two months. According to the case, on 21-05-2004 a rashly driven truck bearing registration No. JK02U/8837 which was driven rashly by one Jagmeet Singh R/O Digiana Jammu took a cyclist under his truck at Satwari killing him on the spot. |
