Govt teacher accused of violating MCC

Kathua, Sept 27: A Government teacher of High secondary school Hatli Kathua has been found violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in Kathua district.
As per reports, Teacher of the government school Varinder Mehra allegedly shot video of BJP Candidate from ward number 21 of Kathua Municipal Committee and posted same on facebook to seek vote and support and also took part in political rally.
Immediately after the video went viral on social media, Independent candidates from ward 21 Baljeet Singh, Sukhvinder Singh Bali expressed resentment over violation of MCC by the government employee.
"We will file written complaint to DC Kathua on Friday who is also nodal officer for implementation of MCC & Law & order for Municipal elections and ask him to investigate the matter," the independent candidates said.
Principal of school, Onkar Chand when contacted over the issue informed that the said teacher availed leave on medical ground but expressed his concern over his participation in the political rally.
Meanwhile Deputy district Election officer Chand Kishore said that there was no complained filed in this regard. He assured action in case a complaint was received.
According to Government order SRO 525, as per Section 124 J and K government employees conduct rules, Government employees shall not engage in any personal social media account for any political activities or endorse the post on Facebook and tweet on twitter and blogs of any political figure.
