World Heart day celebrated

Jammu, Sept 29: To commemorate the "World Heart Day", Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College and Super Speciality Hospital, Jammu organized various functions to create awareness among common populace about prevalence of cardiovascular disease and precautions to be taken to live a healthy life. The day started with the health pledge by students from Lawrence Public School , Wazir JankiNath Memorial, Model Academy, Oriental academy, Maa Saraswati Vidya Mandir school of Jammu city, followed by discussion with Dr. Sushil Sharma, Head Department of Cardiology at Super Speciality Hospital. Shamsher Singh Manhas, Member Parliament Rajya Sabha was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr. Sunanda Raina, Principal, GMC&SSH, Dr. S P Verma Chairperson Gandhi Global Family, Dr Arun Sharma Medical Superintendent besides senior faculty member and prominent citizens of Jammu were also present. The symbolic release of balloons was done to create awareness about heart diseases and its prevention. A similar kind of awareness activity for the faculty members and paramedical staff was also observed in the seminar hall of the department wherein Dr. Sushi Sharma share thoughts on preventive and intervention aspects about coronary artery diseases and various activities done in the previous past to raise the awareness of the general public toward the alarming incidence of Cardiovascular diseases.
Others who spoke on the occasion include Dr. Mohan Lal renowned cardiologist and Dr. Gurjit Singh, Former Head CTVS.
