| Disrespect to National Anthem at Bani Degree College | | | Early Times Report
Bani, Sept 29: Two years after Surgical Strike, a colourful programme was organised by the Staff and students at Degree college Bani.
In the beginning all the students and staff members stood up when the Nation Anthem was being sung. Controversy started when one of the Assist Professors namely Dr Mohd Tawseef Butt refused to stand up when the National Anthem was being sung by the students. He flatly refused to Honour the National Anthem saying that it did not pertain to him. Students protested against the anti- National activity of the professor. The students gave a written complaint to Sub- Divisional Magistrate Bani Ajeet Singh and Principal Degree College Bani regarding the anti-national activity.
It is pertinent to mention that a similar incident had occurred in GDC Bani in November 2016 , after an attack on army Camp at Nagrota Jammu in which a Professor was booked for his anti-national activities. Few days back the same professor had beaten the students with a belt which is an offence as corporal punishment is strictly prohibited in education institutions by the Government. When contacted Principal Degree Collage Bani Professor Asha Ram Sharma, he stated that he was out of station due to some official work and he made it clear that students complaint had been received by him. He assured that the action would be taken against him under the law of the land. When contacted Sub-Divisional Magistrate Bani Ajeet Singh ,he stated that a written complaint have been received by him and he had written a letter to Principal Degree Collage Bani for submission of detailed report regarding the incident. |
