PHE daily earners seek regularisation | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 2: Blaming the previous PDP-BJP coalition government of "betrayal", daily earners in the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department staged a protest and demanded their regularisation on Tuesday . Protesting under the banner of the All J&K PHE ITI-Trained and CP Workers' Association, hundreds of workers also warned that if immediate steps were not taken to resolve their issue they would suspend work. "It is very unfortunate that during the three-year PDP-BJP rule in the state, it didn't fulfil the promises made to us. Thousands of workers remain without wages and their services have not been regularised," said Tanvir Hussain, president of the association. "We were assured that salary vouchers and continuation certificates (givento daily earners) would be issued regularly and salaries would be revised soon," Hussain added. He appealed to the state administration to complete the regularisation process and release the pending salaries of the PHE daily earners. Protesters said implementation of the sadr-e-riyasat order (SRO) no. 20 had been deliberately ignored by the successive governments despite the fact that all essential services were run by the daily earners. |
