For C&D docs October 2 is full holiday
Closed OPD leaves patients high and dry
10/2/2018 10:03:54 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 2: The Chest & Diseases Hospital's OPD was shut for the whole day today as the doctors were away to celebrate Bapu's birth anniversary.
Penitently, as per government order, the OPD remains open and functional on holidays for half day so that there is sufficient time for patients to be attended to. According to employees, there are number of doctors in the Chest and Diseases Hospital but no one visited the hospital to attend the patients on Tuesday. Despite knowing that hospital, one of the biggest government hospitals in the province, caters to a large number of people across Jammu province. It witnessed a footfall of more than 500 patients in its Out-Patient Department (OPD) on a daily basis but who cares?.
In the absence of any information about the holiday at government hospitals, a number of patients, who visited OPDs at the hospital, remained a hassled lot on Tuesday.
"I was given a date for the checkup but, when I went to the hospital, and its OPD was closed without any prior intimation or notice. As we know that the hospital conducts OPD and other services for the half day during holidays. Now, I will have to extend my stay in the city to get treatment next day, "a patient from Poonch said adding that like him, there are so many patients wandering around as they have no information.
Setting a good precedent, the other hospitals, kept its Out Patient Department (OPD) open. "We keep our OPD open so that patients do not suffer due to lack information of holiday," senior doctor said
