Is another coup in offing within PDP?
Poll boycott decision wrong: Senior leader
10/2/2018 10:54:21 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 2: Chaos and confusion prevailing within the ranks of the PDP came to fore on Tuesday when one of its senior leaders termed the party's decision to boycott upcoming polls as "wrong and rectifiable."
The leader, a former legislator who also headed J&K Muslim Waqf Board during the tenure of Mehbooba Mufti as Chief Minister, came out with a detailed statement, claiming that by virtue of the boycott of the polls, the party has paved the way for BJP to infiltrate into Kashmir's politics and claim majority in the state legislature. He said the decision to boycott the ULB polls was a wrong one and needs rectification.
"As the unpopular local body polls proceed with state power on display, a sinister design to change the character of legislature is unfolding. BJP and state machinery are brazenly managing to enact the hoax of election and get BJP nominees through and later grab all the six seats reserved for urban local bodies and Panchayats in state's legislative council. Once that happens BJP-managed majority in the House will become legislatively capable to defeat all and any law that doesn't suit RSS agenda. Seemingly the way for this is clear as BJP and New Delhi brazenly defile democratic institutions by way of giving control to its surrogates, unfortunately, PDP-NC boycott is not proving enough to foil the BJP game plan," the leader said.
He said it is becoming increasingly necessary that both PDP and NC as also other pro-Kashmir parties do more for a result-oriented exercise that helps to pre-empt impositions against the Kashmir cause and its constitutional guarantees.
He said since legal battle can be long drawn, BJP is managing to get into legislative route to undermine state's constitutional position, subvert the same and further destroy the demography to suit well-known RSS road map for Kashmir.
He added that civil society has made some efforts to caution people in the wake of danger to Article 35-A and Article 370. "However, till a workable strong political alliance, these efforts and Kashmir-friendly voices look only feeble and too weak to foil the broader designs of a stronger enemy."
By such statement, the leader in question has hinted that something somewhere has went wrong when it comes to making of the decisions based on far sighted approach by his party. If reports are to be believed, this legislator hasn't issued his statement on his own but after the though consultations with his colleagues who are of the opinion that the party must join hands with the NC and form the government in the state in a bid to keep BJP at bay.
The statement by the PDP leader is also hinting at whether there is a rebellion gaining momentum within the party with one group advocating for alliance with NC while the other remains adamant for the boycott of polls and not to join hands with its arch rival.
