kishtwar, Oct 2: A group of students who had gathered for the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti at New DC Office Complex Kishtwar were literally left high and dry on Tuesday, as the organisers of the function did not even give them a glass of water while senior officials of the district administration and other 'VVIPs' relished tea, biscuits, etc.
As per details available, the district administration Kishtwar, as a part of National day celebration, had invited students from various schools who were made to sit during a day long function.
Speaking to Early Times, the angry students said that senior officials including DC Kishtwar, ADDC Kishtwar, ACD Kishtwar, DPO Kishtwar and others were enjoying mineral water during the function while they were not even served a normal glass of water.
The students said that during the break of the function, all the officials were served tea and snacks inside the tent installed in the DC office complex, with the students left to watch them.
They said that the government is spending lakhs of rupees on Gadhi Jayanti celebrations, but it can't spare a few thousand s on refreshment of the students.
The amount spent on various functions on Tuesday, according to sources, will be incurred by the Rural Development Department.
