GCW udhampur organizes one day students conference

Udhampur, Oct 2: GCW, Udhampur organised a One Day Students Conference on "Mathematics and its Applications" today. The programme started with lighting of lamp by the diganitaries and followed by the welcome address by Dr. Ashok Kumar, HOD Mathematics.
The Chief Guest Dr. Chander Shekhar, Principal GCW Udhampur, threw light on the importance of Mathematics in day to day life and motivated the students to learn Mathematics using both brain and heart. In the conference, 12 students from seven different colleges of Jammu division presented their talks through power point presentation on the topic. Ms Rekha Devi GCW Udhampur secured Ist Position, Mr. Sahil Sharma GDC Hiranagar secured II position, Ms. Phalguni Sambyal GDC Samba secured IIIrd position and Ms. Swasti Gupta GCW Udhampur, Ayuishi Gupta GDC Samba and Manisha Sharma, Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur got the consolation prizes.
On this occasion the resource person Dr. Pavinder Singh, Asstt. Professor Department of Mathematics, Central University of Jammu spoke at length on the topic. He made the students aware of the fact that how the Mathematics is applied in the security, banking system and many others. Dr. Udhey Bhanu, Associate Professor of Mathematics, GDC Udhampur also enlightened the students on this occasion. He further asked the students to do mathematics as it is very beautiful subject. Mr. Sanjay Kharu, Distt. Co-ordinator J&K Science Technology and Innovation Council Udhampur also encouraged the students to learn Mathematics and also tought few basic concepts of Mathematics to the participants. About 180 students took part in this programme. The proceedings of the conference was conducted by Diksha and Radhika of B. Sc. Sem-I. At the end vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Asst. Professor of Mathematics.
