Extends support to independent candidates against BJP in MC Lakhanpur | Lal Singh, BJP feud goes public | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 8: Without uttering a single word against the party, the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) legislator from Basohli constituency Choudhary Lal Singh has given open support to some independent candidates in various wards of Lakhanpur Municipal Committee, rather than the candidates of BJP. According to locals, the Lakhanpur Municipal Committee has been a strong bastion of Choudhary Lal Singh but instead of taking him into confidence, the BJP had given mandate to the candidates of their own choice, in all the seven wards of MC Lakhanpur. The MC Lakhanpur has a total of 791 votes, scheduled for polling on October 10. On Sunday evening, some of the independent candidates, who are learnt to be close to Choudhary Lal Singh, organized a meeting at Lakhanpur Ramlila ground. The meeting was attended by Chairman of Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan. Before Singh's arrival, songs of Dogra Swabhiman were renting the air. Without uttering a single word against BJP or its state leaders, Lal Singh simply appealed the voters to vote in favour of the independent candidates in MC elections. He reportedly said, "Whenever you need any help you go after these people and after years, it comes the turn of these people. These people are my arms, so vote them". These independent candidates are reportedly close to Choudhry Lal Singh and attended the Sunday meeting at Ramlila ground. Neena Sharma is a BJP candidate from ward number 1 Lakhanpur, against whom Kanta Devi wife of Daleep Tak is fighting elections as an independent candidate. Ward number 2 is a reserved seat and Surmudin is already elected unopposed and is learnt to be close to Singh. In ward number 3, BJP has given mandate to Rakesh Sharma, against whom Ravi Kumar is fighting elections as independent candidate. Similarly, in ward number 4, BJP's candidate is Rajesh Gupta whereas Sardar Darshan Singh is contesting elections as independent candidate and is close to Lal Singh. The BJP has given mandate to Nirmala Devi from ward number 5 whereas Ravinder Kour wife of Sardar Surinder Singh is contesting as an independent candidate. Moreover, in the ward number 6, BJP's candidate is Ravinder Sharma whereas Didar Singh is contesting as an independent candidate and in ward number 7, BJP's candidate is Kaka Ram while Pardeep Singh Jasrotia is contesting as an independent candidate. On Monday, BJP organized a bike rally in Lakhanpur, which was attended by state president Ravinder Raina, who also minced no words against Choudhary Lal Singh. Playing safe, Raina reportedly asked the gathering, about the name of their MP and public replied, "Dr. Jatinder Singh". He again asked, "Who is your MLA", the public replied, Choudhary Lal Singh and in the last he appealed them to vote for BJP candidates.Varsity officials questioned over undue delay in campus construction. |
