Yr on, CB, Revenue deptt sit on fake PRC cases in Jammu
10/31/2018 10:27:38 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 31: The Crime Branch (CB) and the Revenue department have turned a blind eye to fake Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) cases reported in Jammu district a year ago.
According to sources, a non-resident family presently residing in Prem Nagar Jammu, obtained PRCs by producing forged documents and after bribing some Revenue officials.
"The family, keeping Jammu Development Authority officials in the dark, also fraudulently regularized two plots", said sources.
In this regard, a written complaint was forwarded to the CB by one Mushtaq Ahmed in which was mentioned how the family in question managed to get PRCs. "The CB sought a detailed report from concerned police station. But later the matter was kept under the carpet", said sources.
They said that the matter was brought into the notice of Revenue officials. The Assistant Commission, Nazool, Jammu wrote a letter to the government seeking cancelation of the PRC, but after a lapse of one year things remain unchanged.
"It is submitted that this office has processed PRC in favour of Alpha, son of Bodh Raj, Shally Malik, wife of Bodh Raj, and Paulian Sresti, daughter of Bodh Raj, all residents of Prem Nagar, Jammu. The PRCs were made on the basis of recommendation made by the Tehsildar Jammu vide No.TJ/PRC/C850, dated 7/7/2017 and TJ/PRC/C695, dated 16/06/2017, and subsequently complaint received from Mushtaq Ahmed, who is also a resident of Prem Nagar, Jammu that applicants are not the permanent residents of J&K as defined in the constitution. A report was sought from Tehsildar Jammu on the basis of said complaint which reveals that the applicants produced forged documents and thereafter the PRCs were seized and office has been given instructions not to issue the same to applicants. Therefore it is requested to kindly cancel the above PRC at the earliest please", reads a letter written to Minister for Revenue, Relief and Parliamentary Affairs by AC Nazool Jammu on 28/10/2017.
However, Bodh Raj, the fake PRC holder, alleged that a Revenue official presently posted in JDA is harassing his family. "Mushtaq Ahmed, my neighbour, who is a Revenue official (Naib Tehsildar), has tempered with our Revenue record to implicate us in a fake case. We have a land dispute with him for more than two decades, our case is still sub-judice", said Bodh Raj. He claimed he is genuine resident of J&K.
"Even details of my forefathers are available in the Revenue record, and anybody can check it", he added. "When the police summoned us, I produced all the documents they wanted, there is nothing fake."
