Kishtwar, Nov 21: Public Awareness Front (PAF) has sought compensation for the losses incurred by the fruit and saffron growers of the district in the recently snowfall.
President of PAF, Shakir Siddiqui said that the recent rains and snowfall in District Kishtwar has left hundreds of saffron farmers and fruit growers worried as saffron, fruits worth Crores of rupees were damaged.
He also questioned the silence of local politicians and legislators over the losses suffered by the poor farmers.
He said that saffron farmers and fruit growers in Pochhal, Matta, Hidyal, Marwah, Warwan, Padder, Nagseni, Inderwal, Bunjwah have suffered a huge loss due to the recent snowfall.
"The orchards, saffron fields are the sole source of their livelihood but after suffering the huge loss, the government compensation is the only hope for them," Saddiqui said and appealed Governor to provide compensation. |
