Opportunist alliances could prove disastrous for state: Harsh
11/21/2018 10:55:08 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 21: Alleging increased attempts of horse trading and other unethical moves for the purpose of reformation of the Govt in J&K through backdoor channels, a large contingent of Panthers Party activists led by Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and other leaders staged a protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground Jammu.
The protestors torched the effigy of central govt for promoting opportunistic alliances in the state and for keeping the legislative Assembly in suspended animation for more than five months in violation of all norms, procedures and precedents.
Addressing gathering, Harsh Dev Singh that different political parties in J&K were indulging in open horse trading and other unwholesome bargains to forge opportunist alliances in the state for the purpose of govt formation by taking benefit of the prolonged suspension of the Assembly. On the one hand PDP, Congress and NC members were reported to be holding parleys for govt formation and contrarily the BJP was hobnobbing with Muzzaffar Hussain Beig, the rebel PDP MLAs and third front, he claimed. Pointing towards the statement of Muzzaffar Hussain Beig hinting at joining third front of Sajjad Lone, he said that it was in fact the BJP speaking through the mouth of the PDP MP. He said that having failed in the past to break PDP for govt formation, the BJP had apparently roped in Muzzaffar Hussain Beig and the recent development was in fact a strategy of the saffron party to form govt through such Machiavellian deals.
Cautioning the govt of India to refrain from such kind of unethical moves to forge opportunistic alliances, he said that it could prove highly counterproductive and disastrous with earth shaking consequences. Militancy erupted in 1989 in Kashmir when allegations of tempering with public mandate were levelled, he recalled adding that any move to forge such dirty alliances by defying the peoples' will could lead to further alienation and defeat all peace initiatives taken in the past.
Seeking immediate dissolution of the Assembly, he called for due indulgence of the President of India who alone could save the state from further ruin and disaster by taking cognizance of the extremely corrupt conduct of different political parties in the state and their political mis-adventurism for the sake of power alone.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Rajesh Padgotra, Gagan Partap Singh, Rajiv Mahajan, K.K Sharma, Udhayveer Sambyal, Bhavishan Singh, Nirmal Kishore, Ch. Surinder Chouhan, Rashpaul Singh, Shankaar Singh Sanju, Man Singh, Mohinder Singh, Rakesh Verma, Joginder Singh, Vishab Singh, Rohit Sharma, Arun Khajuria, Kulbushan Attri, Naresh Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Bittu Choudhary besides others.
