Congress wins 5, independent two seats in Thakrie block | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Nov 21: After winning 11 seats out of 14 Panchayat seats in Bhunzwah and Jakyas block of Inderwal constituency in the first phase, the Congress party continue its winning streak in the 2nd phase of Panchayat elections by winning five seats out of eight seats in Thakrie block. Two independent candidates and a PDP backed candidate has also managed to win the elections. As per the details available with Early Times, Mohammad Saleem (Keshwan B), Chowdhary Shamasdin (Sarawan), Captain Jagdish Raj (Shanna), Shams Din (Mangthala) and former BJP spokesperson Kishore Lal Shan manage to win the election from Darbadan with the support of Congress Block President Thakrie Bashir Ahmad Sheikh after BJP preferred Roshan Lal Shan over him. While Independent candidate Farooq Ahmed Kripak (Independent) manage to win from Keshwan A by margin of 85 votes while another independent candidate Pritma Devi manage to win from Pakalan Panchayat. In another close contest, PDP backed Disha Devi won Sarpanch election by 20 votes in Panchayat Anjole. Congress party won majority of the Panch wards as well while the party manage to win five wards of Keshwan A Panchayat, even then an Independent Candidate win as Congress voters outrightly rejected the Congress backed Sarpanch candidate and voted for Independent Candidate Farooq Ahmed Kripak due to prevailing anti incumbency against the said candidate. |
